Assessment and Fees

The assessment process usually includes 3 appointments. The initial interview with one or both parents (45mins-1 hour) where background information and the developmental history of the child will be discussed. Thereafter on a separate morning will be your child’s assessment (approximately 1.5 - 2 hours), which will include the use of standardised tests and well as informal observations and evaluation and will cover visual perceptual skills, fine motor skills, gross motor skills, postural control and sensory processing abilities. A feedback session preferably with both parents (approximately 45 minutes - 1 hour) will then be arranged for a week to two weeks after the assessment, where the assessment results will be discussed. A written report documenting the assessment results will then be provided to you, with a copy for your child’s teacher. Please note that if therapy is indicated it is recommended that therapy sessions are initiated before the report is completed so that the child can continue to be observed in a more natural setting. The above appointments will take place at the therapy practice in Hout Bay, unless otherwise discussed and it is preferable for your child NOT to attend these appointments where possible. A school visit may also be arranged at an additional cost if necessary.
